Number of Followers
Increasing the number of followers is a poison.
Yes.
And it's not just social media followers.
If your voters in politics, your audience in the arts, and your wealth in commerce increase, you have something to lose. Your increasingly heterogeneous audience, from which you might face backlash when you stray from trivial matters, the fear that any action you take could now lead to a loss rather than a gain, the worry that the respect you've accumulated over the years could be shattered in a single day of lynching.
I'm someone who obsessively spends hours a day consuming information from both domestic and international sources. Don't I know how to create a labyrinth of interaction simply by selling that information, but then again, we don't live in Norway. Our economy isn't just driven by artificial intelligence, technical advancements, deep learning, big data, creative engineering, and so on. Have we addressed issues like democracy, human rights, income inequality, and even general injustice?
I can write about my revolutionary observations about the latest version of Chatgpt, which will have profound impacts on business life, wax eloquent about futurism, and write an article about the professions that will face unemployment in the future, but isn't it also my responsibility to remind people about workplace bullying, rights violations, unpaid overtime, failed promotions, discrimination, and the forgotten concept of merit? By explaining which groundbreaking innovation of a new app can you transform a mindset that wonders if employees should be called to the office for a half-day on Saturday?
There are those who advise against writing too long, saying no one will read it. I'm happy with people who read, think, and give feedback through comments. I'm not worried about getting more reads or likes. In fact, sometimes I even want to make things uncomfortable, so I can dispel this misconception that keeps us stuck in our comfort zones.
In short, if you're not going to make a transformation effort, don't tire your hands; give credit to the pen you hold and the mind God has given you. We are all responsible to the society we emerged from; none of us are free!
